International competition has always been the heartbeat of sport. It pushes boundaries, builds friendships, and elevates the game beyond borders. In the fast-growing world of Virtual Reality Table Tennis, this spirit is no different.
The America’s Cup represents more than just a match between two nations—it marks a milestone in global VR sports development. This friendly but fiercely competitive event is the brainchild of Coach Wladmir Pimentel (Team Brazil) and Sean O’Neill (Team USA), joined by VRTC community leaders Teddy Abesamis and Jeff Greenberg, who recently co-founded VRTableTennis.net to support the sport’s international expansion.
With the generous support of our sponsors—STIGA, Paddle Palace, SolidSlime, BoboVR, and Cacau Vegan—we are proud to unite elite players from both the U.S. and Brazil. Every participant will be competing using the STIGA Cybershape paddle in Eleven Table Tennis, blending the innovation of real-world gear with immersive digital gameplay.
Matches will be streamed live on Twitch, with Sean O’Neill and Jeff Greenberg offering expert commentary. Teddy Abesamis will lead Team USA as captain, while Wlad Pimentel serves as both captain and competitor for Team Brazil. The results will be processed through RatingsCentral, marking a key step toward formalizing a global VR table tennis ranking system.
This event is just the beginning. The winning nation will hold the title until our next international test—a showdown with Canada later this summer. These are exciting times for virtual table tennis, and we’re honored to have you along for the journey.
